Darjeeling Hills University is a newer public university, set up in 2021 to serve higher education needs of the hills. It was established under state legislation and started operations in recent years. Formerly, it was known as Greenfield University. The university offers postgraduate degrees only in English, History, Mass Communication, Mathematics, Nepali and Political Science and is planning to launch postgraduate courses in Geography and Psychology in 2026.
